CarePlus™ system enhanced by adding an infinitely flexible soft call point system for touch screen PCs or tablets

As reported in Forbes magazine, NiQ Health, the leader in “message-based nurse call systems”, has enhanced its CarePlus™ system by adding an infinitely flexible soft call point system for PCs and touch screen PCs or tablets. It enables patients to differentiate priorities when they call for assistance. This is based on the staff skill or competency required by the patient: medical; nursing; housekeeping and service calls.

NiQ Health Founder and CEO Andrew Rothon said: “Nurse Call systems which offer no middleware capability are, frankly, no use in modern settings where improving the patient and clinician experience and improving efficiency and inter-operability is essential. Our CarePlus™ product offering is a nurse call system based on middleware messaging – essentially, ‘middleware in a box’”.

Supporting his views, Mr Rothon has today published a paper, “Nurse call systems are dead!

In the article, Mr. Rothon states: “Nurse call systems that don’t cross the technology chasm to become interconnecting message handling systems (with embedded middleware) will be dead by the end of the decade. The US16 billion-dollar market will be redefined by those that can”.

Mr Rothon said: “To ensure business benefits are realised in hospitals and long term and aged care settings, IT departments and CIOs will take increasingly more control of the nurse call purchasing and rollout cycle. It will become a core product within the IT system not a local buzzer circuit.”
